10/21/2008
On Wednesday, August 13th, PBS, the Public Broadcasting Service, came on site to film one of our bridge inspection crews as they inspected a ½ mile long stretch of Interstate 95 between Palmer and Cumberland Streets in Philadelphia. PBS contacted our client, PennDOT, and told them about the documentary and PennDOT recommended Pickering Corts & Summerson, Inc. (PC&S) for the Bridge Inspection segment.
The PC&S Inspection crew on site for the filming included John Wilhelm, Bridge Inspection Division Manager; Jim White, Pennsylvania Bridge Inspection Manager; Mike Hale, Certified Bridge Inspector; and Tim Newton, Certified Bridge Inspector.
The documentary is a part of a series titled, Blueprint America which focuses on the condition of the Nation’s infrastructure including airports, railroads, highways, and bridges. Jim White, PC&S Pennsylvania Bridge Inspection Manager, was shown in the Bridge Segment that aired on Monday, October 20, 2008, performing the inspection of the Interstate 95 overpass in Philadelphia.
The segment also discussed the Emergency inspection of Interstate 95 over Richmond Street in Philadelphia that took place in March of this year. PennDOT called on the PC&S Inspection group to perform the emergency inspection and to authorize the reopening of the overpass.
