News: PCS Announces Wayne Johnson’s Retirement

5/26/2010

Pickering Corts & Summerson, Inc. announces that Wayne Johnson will retire after 15 years of dedicated service to PCS and 39 years of service in the architectural and engineering industry. Wayne has had a distinguished career as one of the area’s premier Landscape Architects. Wayne, who is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, is a Registered Landscape Architect in Pennsylvania and a Licensed Landscape Architect in New Jersey. Wayne is also a long-standing member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

Over the years, Wayne developed extensive experience in Land Planning, Site Analysis, Site Design, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Impact Analysis, and Environmental Planning. During his tenure at PCS, Wayne worked on a multitude of land development projects, including residential, commercial, institutional and municipal park projects.

Wayne’s more significant accomplishments include the design and management of the following projects: the award winning Villages at Flowers Mill in Middletown Township, the Falls Township Community Park; the award winning Pennswood Village in Middletown Township; Lowes Home Centers in Richland and Middletown Townships; Target Centers in Bensalem and Middletown Townships; Central Park in Doylestown Township; Chandler Hall in Newtown Township; Woods Services in Middletown Township; and George School in Newtown Township.

After arriving at PCS in 1995, Wayne quickly rose through the firm’s hierarchy, being elected to the Board of Directors in 1999. At this time, he also took on the role of Vice President of the Corporation. Wayne continued in that capacity until April 2009, when he began the transition process toward retirement with reduced roles in corporate and department management.

PCS would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Wayne for his contributions to the firm and the significant role he has played in the overall success of PCS. We wish Wayne and his wife, Karen, good health and happiness as they journey into their new world of retirement.
