5/25/2010
PCS proudly congratulates Mike Willey, Junior Bridge Inspector, for obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Fairleigh Dickenson University (FDU) on May 18, 2010.
For his senior project, Mike focused on the area of Bridge Inspection. The project involved the in-depth inspection and rating analysis of a Fracture Critical thru-girder bridge which was in "Serious" condition. Due to the extent of deterioration found during the inspection, the rating output required the use of engineering judgment to keep the bridge open. The presentation and report was well received by the FDU Engineering Department and offered University personnel and fellow classmates incite into the widely unknown field of Bridge Inspection.
Mike has been a valuable member of the PCS Transportation group for the past two years, having served as an intern in the summers of 2007 and 2008 and joining our team full-time in January of 2009. Additionally, Mike passed his Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, formerly known as the EIT exam, in 2009. The Engineering In Training (E.I.T.) certification is the first step to eventually obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license. We wish Mike continued success and congratulate him on completing his Bachelor’s degree.
