News: Jenna Ockford Passes the PennDOT Introduction to Hydraulic Methods and HEC-RAS Class

Pickering, Corts & Summerson, Inc. (PCS), a leading engineering firm headquartered in Bucks County, PA, is pleased to announce that Jenna Ockford, E.I.T., PCS Transportation Engineer-In-Training, recently passed the PennDOT Introduction to Hydraulic Methods and HEC-RAS course.
Jenna attended this course on June 14-18, 2010 in Harrisburg, PA. The course provided participates with application-oriented training on use of the US Army Corps of Engineers' Hydraulic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) program and introduced the theory and practical application of open channel flow hydraulics for culvert and bridge design using a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.
Participants also learned how to implement a procedure to conduct a hydraulic analysis for culvert and bridge crossings in Pennsylvania. The analysis included site assessment, cross-section data collection, hydraulic method selection, interpretation of output, and comparison of existing and proposed conditions.
