News: PC&S Selected to Perform Underwater Inspection of the Walt Whitman Bridge

2/29/2008

In a recent selection by the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), Pickering, Corts & Summerson, Inc. (PC&S) was selected to perform underwater inspections of the Walt Whitman Bridge. The structure is owned by the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), which also owns the Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry, and Ben Franklin Bridges. As a sub-consultant to HNTB, the PC&S Dive Team will inspect and provide underwater imaging of the Bridge's deep-river pier.

"PC&S is happy to assist HNTB in the inspection of this landmark structure," said Alan Jackson, PC&S Underwater Bridge Inspection Manager. "Our state-of-the-art high-resolution sonar system will enable PC&S to provide the DRPA with high-definition images of the pier and the surrounding streambed."

PC&S has been providing underwater bridge inspections for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1987, when the underwater inspection program was first instituted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. With our recent selection for a new statewide, 5-year, open-end agreement, PC&S will continue its underwater bridge inspection services with the Commonwealth.
