After recent flooding, the township needed a comprehensive map of flood zones for FEMA insurance information, as well as revisiting evacuation areas. The map was created by overlaying FEMA flood zones and base flood elevation lines over the most recent aerial photographs available. This comprehensive map replaced a series of maps that sectioned the township and only showed flood zones. Using the new aerial photographs with the flood zone coverage allowed the township to account for newer houses that were not accounted for in earlier maps.
