PCS’s Kevin Gross, P.E. inspects the Vine St. Expressway Bridge over the Schuylkill River in the City of Philadelphia for impact damage caused by a runaway barge.
On the afternoon of August 4, 2020 flood waters due to Tropical Storm Isaias caused a large barge to come loose from its anchors and drift down the Schuylkill River, where it became lodged under the Vine St Bridge. PCS inspectors were immediately called out to the site by PennDOT to perform an emergency inspection to assess the structural integrity of the damaged areas of the bridge.
