Inspection and Load Rating of 860 Bridges for PennDOT District 5-0

PCS has completed three cycles of the NBIS inspection of 860 state-owned bridges for PennDOT District 5-0. The project also included the in-depth inspection and load rating analyses of 20 large, complex, difficult access structures on high ADT highways such as Interstate 78 and State Routes 22, 23, 422, and 378. PCS teams utilized bucket trucks, manlifts, and inspection cranes to gain access to reach critical areas.

Structure types included steel through trusses and deck trusses, riveted and welded steel thru-girder/floorbeam systems, curved steel girders, and open spandrel reinforced concrete arches.
