SR 0078, Section 13M Berks County, PennDOT District 5-0
This APC award-winning project involved reconstruction of the Krumsville Interchange and the adjoining one mile section of mainline Interstate 78. The ramps were realigned into a full diamond configuration and the SR 0737 Bridge over the Interstate was replaced on a new alignment. Along the mainline, an eastbound trucking climbing lane was added and the shoulders and median were widened. The scope also included retaining wall and sound barrier construction and ITS facility installation.
The design agreement included preliminary engineering, final design, and construction services. PCS was the prime consultant of the design team. Our responsibilities also included design of the truck climbing lane, roadway pavements including Life Cycle Cost Analysis, highway drainage and storm water management facilities, and a retaining wall. PCS also performed topographic survey, base mapping development, and utility engineering.
PCS received the 2018 TQI Partnering Award for this project by the Associated Pennsylvania Constructors (APC).
