Inspection of Platt Bridge in Philadelphia, PennDOT District 6-0

PCS performed two routine inspections of the George C. Platt Bridge as part of PCS’s inspection of bridges in Philadelphia, PA for PennDOT District 6-0. The Platt Bridge is 8,780′ long and consists of cantilevered riveted steel thru-truss main spans and riveted steel deck girder approach spans. The bridge carries Penrose Avenue (SR 0291) over the Schuylkill River, Bartram Avenue, Conrail, and Philadelphia Energy Solutions.

PCS inspectors employed hands-on inspection methods on all fracture critical members utilizing special equipment including aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and underbridge inspection cranes.
