Open-End Statewide Underwater Bridge Safety Inspections, PennDOT Central Office

This project includes the underwater inspection and fathometer survey of nearly 500 state-owned and locally-owned bridges located throughout Pennsylvania. The technical report details any defects and includes the streambed evaluations for existing and potential scour and the substructure’s vulnerability to scour.

This is PCS’ 11th consecutive statewide underwater contract with PennDOT since 1987. Our Kongsberg Mesotech MS 1000 PC-Based Scanning Sonar produces detailed images in zero visibility water. These quality images show excellent detail, such as the pier configuration, footings, sheet piling, structural defects, streambed location, and scour holes.
